The Alliance for New Music-Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Susan Galbraith, presented a section of Vaclav Havel's PROTEST, for a panel on Havel, featuring former US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, and former Ambassador for the Czech Republic, Martin Poluch, at the Crosscurrents festival in Washington, D.C., this month. The theme of the Crosscurrents Festival is "humanizing politics through performance," a goal expressed variously and often movingly by thea...

This weekend I filled in for an actor down with the flu in the role of "The Man," in a 'Sleep No More' like performance by the women-oriented dance/theatre group, The Neo Political Cowgirls, at a private estate--which is up for sale--in East Hampton, NY. VOYEUR was directed Kate Mueth. I had a great time and happily extended my theater world to include some great folks out in The Hamptons and Sag Harbor.
Reading my resume, she said, you got some good credits, kiddo." Then I did the mono and she said “I love your voice,” then proceeded to rip me several new ones for the beats missed and flat rhetoric (I wasn’t building.) She looked straight through every false moment. She said I took the notes but wanted more in my first take. At one moment, she flat out told me I had the wrong instinct.
Writer, director, and actor Derek Evans worked for four years to make his very large cast, very low budget, action-comedy THE KING OF BLOODY FOOK'N BRITAIN, in which I play the fixer, Mr. Clean. I loved working on this set with an enthusiastic cast and crew that made me fall in love with Atlanta, where up-and-coming filmmakers are making a strong community, in which everyone seems to help each other out.
I'm not terribly comfortable on the red 'carpet!'
The Alliance for New Music-Theatre and Florida International University will present a public performance of Vaclav Havel's PROTEST on Thursday, Dec. 6th, at The Biltmore Hotel, in Coral Gables, Florida. We'll also anticipate having an open rehearsal on Sunday, December 2nd, at The Line Hotel, in Washington, D.C.
This evening, a wonderful group of actors--many of whom are my classmates in Krakower-trained Vance Barber's ongoing on-camera acting class--are doing a table read of my first cutting of THE WINTER'S TALE for a film adaptation, which I hope to shoot in Oregon, in the desert (Sicilia) and on the coast (Bohemia). I have no idea from whence the $300,000 I'll need to shoot this film will come! But, so far the project is already worthwhile, as I delve deeper into an understanding of why t...
I'm now a PADI-certified Divemaster and Assistant Instructor Candidate. "Divemaster" is a professional certification allowing me to lead certified divers on dives, instruct refresher courses, and assist in teaching Open Water Diver courses. I started the Divemaster program for two reasons: 1) to become a better diver and 2) be prepared to manage the challenges and risks of diving on film sets at which water scenes are being shot.
I had a great time on set in the small but wonderfully named character, "Coogan Hudnutt." There was a lot of action packed into my short time on screen: I held a shotgun, ran from the hero, had a scene with James Spader, had my mugshot up in the 'War Room,' was badmouthed by the series' regulars, and was tortured--on the rack--all in about a minute of screen time. My first appearance on network episodic tv was incredibly fun and fulfilling. I look forward to doing mor...
